June 2022 marks four years since G7 Leaders came together to adopt the Charlevoix Declaration on Quality Education, committing to promote and improve learning outcomes for refugees and host communities, while also working to reduce the time children and youth, especially girls, are out of school as a result of conflict and displacement. The Charlevoix Declaration on Quality Education served as a milestone in bringing global attention and a historic level of investment (US$ 3.5 billion) in girls’ and women’s education and training in contexts of conflict and crisis. As the Charlevoix Funding Dashboard shows, Charlevoix donors and partners have gone above and beyond their original pledges, collectively disbursing over US$4.02 billion in support of women and girls.

In the lead up to the 48th G7 Summit, INEE is excited to share some new gender events and resources we have lined up in the coming weeks. These mark INEE’s efforts, supported by Global Affairs Canada, to strengthen the evidence base for girls’ EiE. We hope that these events, and the conversations therein, will build on the momentum for G7 leaders to continue to prioritize girls’ education in conflict and crisis settings.
