Localising education responses in crises: moving beyond buzzwords to shifting power

For over a decade, the humanitarian sector has promised to “localise” aid. But in 2024, local actors still received less than 4% of all humanitarian funding. To understand what shifts are needed to localise education aid in crisis and emergencies, the ERICC Research Consortium synthesised findings from 28 studies across Bangladesh, Jordan, Lebanon, Myanmar, Nigeria, South Sudan and Syria.

STORYTIME WITH ZAZA & ZUZU

‘Storytime with Zaza & Zuzu’ is a child-friendly interactive audio series designed to create moments of safety, calm and connection for Palestinian children. The first season comprising 52 episodes of 15 minutes each, has already been used in over 250 facilitated sessions throughout Gaza, reaching more than 20,000 children. A new season currently in production builds on that experience using an episode format that can be played at any time, in any order, plus printable support resources for caregivers and facilitators.
