Does the integration of MHPSS in Education create a positive Effect on Children Learning Outcomes?

Currently affecting one in four people worldwide, mental disorder is one of the major root causes of severe loss in productivity, quality of life, and ultimately, lives. Particularly in the age of a constant rise in natural disasters, conflicts, and human disconnection, stresses and traumas are more prevalent than ever. Of the most vulnerable population groups, children suffer lifelong, severe effects of mental distresses. The push for mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) in the educational setting has escalated in the last decades with a number of reports assessing its impact on children's wellbeing. However, the effect of these interventions on learning outcomes is relatively underexplored, leading us to wonder: Does the integration of MHPSS in Education create a positive Effect on Children Learning Outcomes?

Our research paper will attempt to address this question by looking at several case studies of MHPSS interventions in both the emergency and formal education settings in an attempt to evaluate a various range of MHPSS interventions and their impact on children learning outcomes. Each case study will emphasize the WHO (responsible parties), the HOW (the intervention), the OUTCOME (the result of the intervention), and the SHOULD HAVE (lessons learned) of a specific intervention or project to conduct a prompt analysis of their impact. The research paper will also highlight a brief overview of the MHPSS history and its integration in the field of Education in Emergencies.
