Education in Conflict: a Programmatic Response in South Sudan 2002-2005

A programmatic response in South Sudan: Save the Children UK  2002 - 2005

South Sudan has suffered 20 years of war, witnessing the destruction of their communities and infrastructure; forced displacement- both internally & externally; multi-dimensional competitions for resources such as: land rights & access to water; fears of political and religious domination and inter-tribal conflict; intensified marginalisation; little to no access to basic services such as economic social and political support.

Save the Children presents an overarching contextual analysis of Education systems in place in South Sudan and their strategic response to enable and support child protection initiatives. They will focus on supported activities and initiatives such as: teacher training; English literacy courses for women; head teacher & county supervisor workshops; PTA workshops; teaching & learning materials for schools; accelerated learning programmes & training; social advocacy teams (SAT); and care committees.
