Guidelines for Selective Feeding: The Management of Malnutrition in Emergencies
In order to achieve predictability and accountability in international responses to humanitarian emergencies, the Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) designated global cluster leaders in eleven areas of humanitarian activity. Upon its creation, the Global Nutrition Cluster launched several projects, including the revision of the "1999 UNHCR/WFP Guidelines for Selective Feeding Programmes in Emergency Situations".
This revised version is intended as a practical guide to design, implement, monitor and evaluate selective feeding programmes in emergency situations, namely to answer the following key questions:
- Which type and combination of selective feeding programmes are required?
- How should each be implemented?
