Minimum Initial Service Package (MISP) for Reproductive Health in Crisis Situations

While refugee women’s and girl’s risks and needs rise, health services and support systems are often unavailable. These gaps in services lead to more unplanned pregnancies, unsafe abortions and dangerous pregnancy complications. Without access to emergency obstetric and newborn care, entirely preventable conditions can inflict suffering or death on refugees.The Minimum Initial Services Package (MISP) for Sexual and Reproductive Health in Crises provides the bare minimum for emergency response—and even this is not consistently implemented. As a situation stabilizes, refugees have a right to and need more comprehensive services that address all aspects of sexual and reproductive health. This package contains multiple resources related to sexual and reproductive health in emergency situations.
