INEE Convenings in 2026
As a member-led network, INEE provides spaces for members to connect, collaborate, and build an inclusive, mutually supportive education in emergencies (EiE) community. In 2026, we are particularly focused on hosting events which foster dialogue, advance research, and support the establishment of partnerships to localize EiE responses and drive sustainable funding for EiE.
Below is a non-exhaustive list of in-person, INEE-led convenings in 2026. We hope to see you there!

Upcoming Events
February
Protecting the Right to Education in Sudan
17 February, 2026
INEE, in partnership with Global Campaign for Education, Sudan Education Cluster, Arab Campaign for Education for All, and Sudanese Coalition for Education for All, held an Arabic-language event on protecting the right to education in Sudan. The event brought together 170+ education policymakers, practitioners, researchers, teachers, and learners to highlight challenges, share innovative solutions, and promote collective action and sustained support for Sudan’s education sector. The event was followed by a six-week social media campaign, developed based on inputs from INEE members living and working in Sudan.

INEE Meet-Ups
1-15 May, 2026
In May, INEE held 54 Meet-Ups, across 34 countries. 1520 people joined from 83 countries. 5 people even joined 6+ Meet-Ups!
Some Meet-Ups focused on sharing examples of good practice, generating consensus around topics like climate change or gender-transformative education, or mobilizing support for education in contexts like Yemen or Sudan. Others simply provided space for members to network and connect with each other across countries, regions, languages, or themes.
Several participants shared that INEE Meet-Ups had enabled them to meet people working in their country or on an area of expertise in EiE they otherwise would have never met, leading to:
- Expanded personal and professional networks
- Invitations to join country or thematic working groups
- Joint initiatives, campaigns, and programs
- Follow up invitations to join other events

UN General Assembly (UNGA 81)
September 21-24, 2026
INEE, in collaboration with Street Child, will be hosting events on education in emergencies, education financing, and localizing education responses on the sidelines of UNGA 81. These events will be held in person in New York, USA, with the potential for virtual participation.

Working Better Together: Shifting Power, Transforming Systems
12-15 October, 2026
Building on the questions raised through the Beyond Aid series, INEE, in partnership with the Kenya Ministry of Education, will co-host a gathering in Nairobi, Kenya on 12-15 October 2026.
The gathering aims to move beyond dialogue towards practical action that participants can take individually and collectively to shift power within the Education in Emergencies (EiE) sector. It will create space for participants to challenge existing systems, identify key leverage points for change, and strengthen transformative efforts that redistribute decision-making authority, resources, and accountability.

INEE Meet-Ups are open and informal gatherings in all corners of the globe where INEE members and others can network, share experiences, and discuss relevant topics. All people and all themes are welcome!

ECW Replenishment Side Events
Date to be determined
INEE will be hosting several events on the sidelines of the ECW and GPE replenishments. These events will be held in person in Geneva, Switzerland, with the potential for virtual participation.
