EiE Professional Development Programme (PDP)
What Is the EiE Professional Development Programme (PDP)?
The EiE PDP is a structured, multi-level learning pathway for practitioners and organizations working in crisis-affected, fragile, or disaster-prone contexts. It equips individuals and organizations with the competence to design, implement, and lead quality EiE programmes — from foundational understanding to advanced, sector leadership. It is built through collective learning, locally grounded expertise, and the exchange of perspectives and experiences across contexts.
The EiE PDP consists of four core learning paths:
Who it's for:
Designed for junior to mid-level EIE practitioners working in the field or at country offices.
What it offers:
A 50-hour course that covers the essential phases, concepts, and tools in EiE.
Delivery:
It's delivered online in a self-paced format, with additional face-to-face facilitated sessions.
Who it's for:
Best for practitioners who already have some experience and want to deepen their knowledge in specific technical areas.
What it offers:
A 200-hour self-directed series of modules; learners can take individual units or complete the full set. These are free and accessible on Kaya platform.
Delivery:
Self-directed online courses available in a range of languages and include H-Pass digital badges on completion.
Who it's for:
Senior practitioners in positions of influence who are able to apply their learning to improve their personal practice and the performance of the EiE programme or response they work on.
What it offers:
The EiE CAS is a 450-hour course accredited by the University of Geneva (UNIGE).
Delivery:
Blended facilitated course incl. simulation & ToT (F2F if possible). Skills-sharing assignment and possible placements/job swap.
Who it's for:
Target group can be decided based on need.
What it offers:
New topics or learning approaches specific to a given crisis
Delivery:
Can be adapted to meet the accessibility and feasibility of the request.
The EiE PDP is closely aligned with the EiE Competency Framework, developed in collaboration with INEE network members. This framework defines a shared set of competencies to guide professional development and strengthen capacity across the sector. By following it, PDP participants not only build sector-relevant skills, but also contribute to harmonising learning and professional development in EiE globally.
