The WiLL Research Coordination and Facilitation Consultant will be based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and will support UNICE Innocenti, UNICEF Ethiopia Country Office (CO) and the Ministry of Education in Ethiopia (MoE) to co-create the WiLL research to increase government ownership and maximise research findings take-up.

The USAID/Tanzania team is initiating the design of a new activity focused on “Targeted Instruction” methods to address key educational challenges. Building on the lessons learned from the current ‘Learn to Understand’ program, a foundational learning program that has been active for over 4 years, analyses conducted by the Office of Chief Economist (OCE) highlight the need for an improved approach. With a Targeted Instruction approach, the teacher creates personalized instructional approaches for each pupil using classroom-based assessments so that the materials each pupil is learning “at their level” of ability. This is in contrast with standard approaches that assume that most pupils in a classroom are at similar levels of ability.

The SEL in Foundational Learning initiative has been established by Porticus, in collaboration with other key foundations. The goal is to strengthen the evidence base for Social Emotional Learning (SEL) as a key component of Foundational Learning. The overall initiative will develop a shared research agenda and establish funding mechanisms to commission targeted research that addresses critical gaps in SEL at scale, with a focus on Global South contexts. 

Reporting to the Development and Partnerships Manager, the role of the Senior Fundraising Officer is to support the Programmes Department in the implementation of GFP’s fundraising strategy, with an emphasis on identifying donors and funding opportunities, supporting in the preparation of grant proposals and reports, and maintaining fundraising knowledge management systems.

Le consultant en coordination et facilitation de la recherche WiLL sera basé à Conakry, en Guinée et aura pour taches de soutenir l'UNICE Innocenti, le bureau de pays de l'UNICEF en Guinée et le Ministère de l'éducation Pré-Universitaire et de l’Alphabétisation (MEPUA) pour co-créer la recherche WiLL afin d'accroître l'appropriation par le gouvernement et de maximiser l'adoption des résultats de la recherche.
