Improving Outcomes for Crisis-Affected Children: Lessons from Social-Emotional Learning Tutoring Programs in Niger

Through Education in Emergencies Evidence for Action (3EA), the IRC has been implementing Tutoring in a Healing Classroom (HCT), a remedial program in which teachers incorporate social-emotional learning (SEL)-based classroom practices, and NYU Global TIES for Children rigorously evaluates the impact of HCT. In this policy brief, we explore the impacts of HCT as a standalone program and when packaged with skill-targeted SEL activities for students enrolled in Nigerien public schools.
