This webinar will bring together researchers, policymakers, and education stakeholders to explore promising approaches and practices that improve access, quality, and continuity of education for marginalized learners affected by crisis and conflict.

Education is often one of the first services disrupted during crises. Existing inequalities are frequently exacerbated during these periods, leaving the most vulnerable learners at greater risk of exclusion from education.

Despite strong demand from communities and families, education remains consistently underfunded in humanitarian responses. This contributes to a critical and ever-growing problem – the number of children who are not in school, or who are in school and not learning. Education Cannot Wait (2025) estimates that there are 234 million school-aged children requiring urgent support to access quality education. To ensure that learners affected by emergencies and systemic inequities are not left behind, governments and other education stakeholders are seeking evidence-based options to support learning continuity and equitable access to quality education.

The discussion will draw on evidence from the Education Research in Conflict and Protracted Crisis (ERICC) programme and the Global Partnership for Education Knowledge and Innovation Exchange (GPE KIX), highlighting lessons from research, policy, and implementation.

Participants will:

  • Explore evidence on what works and what gaps remain in education in conflict- and crisis-affected settings
  • Learn about promising approaches for reaching marginalized learners
  • Hear research, policy, and implementation perspectives from crisis-affected contexts
  • Engage in a moderated discussion and live Q&A
