The Inter-agency Network for Education in Emergencies (INEE) held a second MENA regional workshop on Psychosocial Support and Social and Emotional Learning (PSS-SEL) in emergencies!

One key area that emerged from the first workshop was the urgent need to better support teachers’ well-being in crisis-affected contexts. In response, this follow-up workshop on teacher well-being, which built on the foundational PSS SEL workshop and responded directly to the needs and priorities identified by INEE members.

This workshop was offered in English and Arabic:

This session focused on practical approaches and collective reflection to strengthen teacher well-being as a core component of quality education in crisis and emergency settings. During the workshop, participants:

  • Gained a clearer understanding of teacher wellbeing in crisis and emergency contexts.
  • Reflected on the key stressors affecting teachers in the MENA region and how these impact teaching, learning, and learner wellbeing.
  • Explored the connection between teacher wellbeing, PSS-SEL, safe learning spaces, and quality education in emergencies.
  • Learned practical strategies for supporting teachers at individual, peer, school, organizational, community, and system levels.
  • Shared experiences and learn from other education actors working in similar crisis-affected contexts.
  • Identified realistic actions they can take forward to strengthen teacher wellbeing in their own programmes, schools, or organizations.
  • Accessed relevant INEE resources and tools to support continued learning and action on teacher wellbeing.
