Júlio Santos

Júlio Santos is the INEE Country Focal Point for Portugal. He has a Master of Arts in Education from the Centre for International Education, Sussex University. He has been engaged in the field of education cooperation since 1988, first working in Angola in the context of the conflict (1988-92) and then in refugee education in Malawi/Mozambique with Jesuit Refugee Service.
Currently Júlio is a lecturer teaching education and development, global citizenship, and education in emergencies and coordinates the Center for Global Education and Cooperation at the Paula Frassinetti School of Education in Portugal. He is also a researcher at the Center for African Studies at the University of Porto.
Júlio participates in EiE-focused research projects: Angola (Bié) and Mozambique, in the context of Disaster Risk Reduction and has directly engaged with INEE since 2002, participating in the translation of the INEE Minimum Standards (2004 and 2010) and the Conflict Sensitive Education Pack, while also previously being a member of the Education Policy Working Group and the E Cubed evaluation panel. Julio is Portuguese and speaks Portuguese and English.
