Josaphat Byadunia

Josaphat Byadunia Birhashwirwa is the INEE Country Focal Point for the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). He is a professionally trained teacher with a university degree in Applied Pedagogy, and also the son of two teachers. After working for seven years in secondary education, he moved on to become a teacher within the office of the Provincial Coordination of Seventh-day Adventist Schools in South Kivu Province. He has since started to pursue another Bachelor’s degree in Community Development Sciences and Techniques, focused on environmental management. This has allowed him to work as a teacher in institutions of higher education and universities.
He first joined the humanitarian sector by becoming AVSI’s Education Expert working in a multi-sector emergency program. He is the founder of the NGO Action de Développement et d’Assistance aux Vulnérables (ADAV) which works in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Passionate about teaching, he always sets aside time to teach and is also a trainer for the DRC Education Cluster, where he is a member of the cluster at the sub-national level. Apart from this, he is a consultant for several organizations conducting evaluations, trainings in various thematic areas, and tool design. Josaphat is Congolese and speaks French, Kiswahili, Kinyarwanda, a little English and Lingala. He also speaks some languages spoken in the DRC.
