Education in Emergencies in Sri Lanka - Lessons Learned

This Lessons Learned review was undertaken in order to detail and analyze Sri Lanka’s experience in providing emergency education through the war and after the tsunami and identify key lessons that may be useful for future practice not only in Sri Lanka but also in emergency contexts around the world. The lessons learned discussion is framed in 10 sections corresponding largely to the Inter-Agency Network for Education in Emergencies Minimum Standards (INEE MS) on emergency education. It is important to note that while the INEE Minimum Standards are reflected in the Sri Lankan experience, the standards were not available to local practitioners and officials during most of the period under review (2001-2010).
