I'm Johnstone Kimeu Mumo, a teacher of biology and chemistry employed by the Teachers Service Commission, Kenya. I teach at Ack Kiteei Secondary School in Kitise division, Kathonzweni sub county, Makueni County. I'm currently serving as the Acting Deputy Principal, the discipline master, and the school IT specialist. My school is located in a semi-arid region and mostly works with marginalised children.
What has been a highlight of your work as a professional in EiE? Feel free to share a personal story.
Recently we held an INEE Kenya Meet-Up in which I learned a lot from the experiences of various EiE practitioners and professionals. Through these experiences, I gained a lot of learnings and insights relating to the day to day encounters in my work station.
When and why did you join INEE, and what is the value of INEE membership to you?
I joined INEE in April 2023 to seek professional growth and learning. I have definitely gained a lot from being an INEE member.
How do you currently engage with the INEE network?
I have joined a Whatsapp group for Kenya members moderated by Dr. Loise Gichuhi, the Kenya INEE Country Focal Point, which I find very useful. I have also subscribed to INEE newsletters and receive news and updates via my Gmail account. I also attend INEE webinars.
How would you like INEE members to connect and engage with you? What skills, experience and/or technical support would you be willing to share or provide to other members and/or INEE Secretariat?
INEE members can engage with me through WhatsApp, Facebook, Google Meet, through INEE Meet-Ups and also through the Community of Practice. I'm resourceful in all matters related to Information Technology (IT).
Anything else you want to share with members?
I'm open minded and ever ready for new experiences and new learning avenues.
