It examines how education is not only a space that has suffered extensive collateral damage from the war on drugs, but also how education policies and practices perpetuate and sustain this long-running, transnational, and multifaceted war.

Education as the weapon for the future: A qualitative study of education needs in the Nuba Mountains of Sudan
The people of the Nuba Mountains in Sudan have been under conflict for decades. This conflict has left the people of Nuba lacking many resources, including education support. Due to the nature of the conflict, access to the region is challenging. Still, the education organization, To Move Mountains, was able to conduct qualitative research with two communities within the conflict zone.

This case study focuses on the research concerning teacher well-being. Many of the teachers have experienced displacement, either during previous conflicts in the region or during the current conflict.
Education levels among 8 and 9 year olds in the Nuba Mountains: Results of a Rapid Assessment Survey
Civil conflict has tremendous long-term effects on education among marginalized communities. This research is a descriptive analysis of literacy and numeracy rates among children 8 and 9 years old living in the war zone of the Nuba Mountains in Sudan.
