Editorial Note: Journal on Education in Emergencies Volume 8, Number 3

In this editorial note, special issue lead editors Emily Dunlop and Mark Ginsburg frame research on education during COVID-19 within the prevailing political, economic, and social dynamics that influenced policy responses to the pandemic. Existing socioeconomic inequalities, uneven access to public health information, and differential capacity or willingness of state actors to respond to the pandemic exacerbated adverse health outcomes for vulnerable and marginalized communities across the world. With this perspective, Dunlop and Ginsburg go on to summarize the key findings of the six research articles, four field notes, and three book reviews included in this special issue.
