Advocacy note on the rapid deterioration of the humanitarian crisis in the Ituri province, DRC

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) and the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) welcome the announcement of the activation of a system-wide scale up for the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DR Congo). A system-wide scale up represents a necessary step to strengthen the response to the rapid deterioration that has affected eastern DR Congo over the last months. Beyond the allocation of further resources, the announcement of the scale up offers the opportunity to strengthen existing coordination mechanisms at provincial and local level, including on logistics and humanitarian access, which are essential for the delivery of aid across complex operating environments.
