Drawing on interviews with 16 refugee parents and caregivers living in Kakuma Refugee Camp, Kenya, I find that caregivers actively engage in their children’s schooling.
Recurso Cluster randomized controlled trial of a phone-based caregiver support and parenting program for Syrian and Jordanian families with young children For refugee caregivers who may live in remote areas or be a highly mobile population, creating parenting programs that fit their needs and accommodate their mobility can be highly beneficial. In this article, we evaluate a 6-month, audio-only early childhood development (ECD) intervention delivered via phone (3 calls per month) to caregivers of Syrian and Jordanian backgrounds in Jordan.
Recurso Developing and Implementing a Measure of Quality of Home Visit Interactions for Fathers: the Rohingya Camps and Host Communities in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh This brief discusses the importance of measuring quality, the process of developing and implementing this quality instrument, and the preliminary analysis of data collected using it. In addition to informing the impact evaluation, a broader goal of this work is to contribute to the emerging knowledge on measuring program quality and fidelity, particularly in low and middle income countries (LMIC) and emergency contexts, and better understand “how” and “why” parenting programs in these contexts do or do not work.

Recurso Early Adolescent Skills for Emotions (EASE) EASE is an evidence-based group psychological intervention to help 10–15-year-olds affected by internalizing problems (e.g. stress and symptoms of anxiety, depression) in communities exposed to adversity. The intervention consists of 7 group sessions for adolescents and 3 additional group sessions for their caregivers.
