Vitamin A Supplementation: Who, When and How

Hidden hunger is a lack of vitamins and minerals in ones diet, and occurs when the quality of food people eat does not meet their nutrient requirements, or is deficient in micronutrients such as vitamins and minerals.

Two billion people suffer from vitamin and mineral deficiencies. Women and children in families with low-income are at the most risk, and often do not get enough vitamin A, iodine and iron, which leads to limited growth and development

The following article provides guidelines for vitamin A supplementation in children and women and discusses when it is safe to phase out supplementation.
