Transitional Justice

This list of resources on Transitional Justice are part of the larger Learning for Peace project which produced dozens of briefs, reports, case studies, guides, and research products, and compiled many other relevant resources related to the link between education and peacebuilding.

The contribution that education can make to peace depends not only on measures such as the physical reconstruction of schools, the reincorporation of young people into the education system, and school curricula that promote universal values of tolerance and social cohesion, but also on the sensitivity of reforms and programs to the legacies of past injustices in the education sector itself and the public culture. This section contains a volume of case studies that illustrates how Ministries of Education and civil societies from around the world have attempted to address legacies of past injustices through education.

Transitional Justice and Education: Learning Peace

This edited volume examines the relationship between transitional justice and education in peacebuilding contexts: how transitional justice can shape the reform of education systems by ensuring programs are sensitive to the legacies of the past; how it can facilitate the reintegration of children into society; and how education can engage younger generations in the work of transitional justice.
